Sennheiser headsets are always known for their sound and bass quality. They have elevated the quality of headphones by providing many latest features for an affordable price. But still, if you are to compete with the industry giants like Sony, Bose then you should provide something which is price worthy and should feature the same features. Active noise cancellation is something that every company is trying to deliver through its headphones for its customers. But with that technology the price increase substantially. The top companies provide ANC with a price range that starts from 40,000 RS. But the new sensation from Sennheiser known as Momentum wireless 3 is providing the same with a price range of Rs 35,000. As we have seen in Bose headphone that there are at least 2 modes for noise cancellation but now Momentum has carried this trend to a new level and it is offering three ANC modes. So read further to know about these and many other cool features of this headphone.
Sennheiser Momentum 3 is designed to be over the head and over the ear headphones. These headphones have a large earcup size that can cover any ear and you can enjoy the isolation of environment noise effectively through these. Momentum 3 looks premium in design with a headband that is made up of metal but still, it is not too heavy or bulky. The headphones sit comfortably over the ear and long-time hearing does not cause any kind of fatigue.
The overhead metal band is covered in thick layered leather which gives it a premium feel and the ear cups attach to the same. The lower metal part is exposed in the design which lies near the earcups. The package contains a protective pouch that keeps the headphones protected from dust and damage. You will also find an AUX cable for wired connectivity.
Active noise cancellation is something that would attract most buyers and Sennheiser Momentum 3 has three-stage ACN options in them. For activating there is a button provided below the right earcup which when shifted down activates the ANC. Shifting it further down allows the ambient noise to pass through. The buttons on the right earcup control volumes, pause-play action and skip track actions. The right side also has buttons for pairing options and on the bottom side, you will find a type-c charging port and a 3.5mm jack.
If we talk about the performance of Momentum 3 then it is quite loud in volume range between 60% and 80% Going above this range will never affect the audio quality to distort which is quite surprising. Listening to high pitch music such as Alan walker Alone, On My Way, Marshmello and Anne Marie’s Friends, Sia’s Chandelier etc are very loud at 85% volume. Even if you are listening to the online streaming apps like the Jio Savaan, Ganna, YouTube Music, Amazon Music are very loud and crystal clear. So hence you can try any app or music file on Momentum 3 and you are always gonna get the best music experience.
We even tried the old Bollywood songs and there too the headphones were producing enough bass and punch with every song. Usually, the old classic is not available in super 320kbps format but then also these headphones didn’t disappoint us. The bass of the headphone is quite good but still, it will never try to add any unnecessary bass for any track unnecessarily. But still, we would recommend you to listen to the latest tracks on 320kbps as that will give you the ultimate hearing experience from the headphones.

The Bluetooth of this headphone has a range of up to 12 meters and under this range will perform without any breakage. But as you increase the range the songs tend to break up and a similar scenario is seen with any other headphones. The battery lasts for 2 hours if you are continuously using Bluetooth mode and listening to tracks on high volume. If you are listening to tracks in less than 80% volume on Bluetooth mode then the battery would last longer than 2 hours and may go up to 3-4 hours. Another interesting feature is the audio control if you are moving headphones way from the ear then the tracks get paused automatically. Bringing them back near your ear will resume the playback. The pause option is also available on the right side middle button. Long pressing the pause button will change the track and double pressing it will get to the next track.
ANC works well if your volume percentage is below 60%. If you are listening to tracks on high volume then ANC may not work as the volume will be too high and you could not differentiate it. Active noise cancellation does not cancel every noise and you can hear peoples talking around in a compressed manner. Many users may wonder what are the three ANC levels on the headphone and where to find them. The three-level ANC can be enjoyed with the Smart Control App from Sennheiser. These are categorized into Anti-Wind, Anti Pressure and Max. Anti-Wind reduces the wind and enriches the vocal experience. Anti Pressure reduces the punch on the eardrums and sometimes it just disturbs the whole feeling for the song. Max has the maximum noise reduction and has the best result from the other two. Another option that you get in the app is the Transparent hearing. It allows you to listen to the talks which are happening in the background. Although it does not work that good and you still need to remove the headphone for proper listening.
We would like to add that Sennheiser Momentum 3 offers good sound and has superb connectivity with Bluetooth. The headphones after regular use feel bulky as compared with Bose. The ANC is not that effective and the cost of the headphone is quite high because it is delivering ANC technology. The company needs to work on their ANC and should learn from Bose who is delivering around 11 levels of ANC with their headphones. The cost of these headphones is also quite high so the user has to think twice before getting this technology. In our view, if you are looking for a better sound then you can go with this headphone but in terms of ANC, this may disappoint you. If you are looking to buy these then try the below link:
