There are many factors that affect the speed and performance of Android devices. Mid-range and budget phones tend to slow down quicker than others. Other than slowing down the Lag issue is one of the foremost concerns. We can see lags during playing any game or opening some big apps. So to increase the speed and performance of the android phone, follow the below-mentioned tips.
So some of the tips on how to make your android run faster:
Android Phones should be up to date
Android phones are susceptible to bugs. So keeping the phone up to date is your primary task. New updates remove the bugs from the previous updates. There are manual and automatic options for installing updates. The automatic update search option can search for any new update available for the phone and download it for your convenience.
The manual search is done by going to Settings > About device > Software update. Keeping the android system up to date helps but keeping apps too will surely boost the performance. Visit the play store and update all the apps which are due for updates. Open play store ~>My apps & games ~> Update all.
The home screen of the Android phone should be clean
The home screen is the first screen that interacts with the user. It should not contain unused apps icons. The cluster of unused icons should not appear at the home screen. Keeping them will affect the performance of your device. Keep the icon range to a minimum.
Only essential should find its way on your home screen. Static wallpaper are best as compare to live wallpapers. Live wallpapers take-up speed, performance, and memory from Android phones. So switching the wallpaper to a static one will save these parameters from being busy.
Deleting the unused app from Android phone
We download a lot many apps on our phone. Some are quite useful and some are just wastage of storage space. It is a good habit to keep a check on all the unused apps on the phone and deleting them. The unused app takes up storage and sometimes take memory too. So only keeping the daily used apps will help in saving storage space and free up memory usage. All app information can be seen from Settings~> App & notifications. Here you get a list of all installed apps on your device. Find and delete the app which is rarely in use. Delete them and restart the phone to see the speed difference.
Turn off or reduce animations speed
Many people are not aware of the term animation. Animation is present inside the Android which activates when you swipe in any direction or when you access any apps. The default time assigned to the animation is about 1 sec. So it takes about a sec or 1x to complete the animation. The time of animation can be zero or .5x. So where is the option to do this? You can find this option in developer options.
A developer option is a hidden option that activates when you press build number 10 times. You can find a build number in System~> About phone ~> Build number. Once you get inside the developer option go to the drawing settings and there you will find Window animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale.
Clearing cached app data
The app usually creates a cache data of itself. It is useful for the quick opening of the app. Over time the cached data takes a lot more storage space. So keeping them in check will help you reduce the storage space and helps to free the unused cached data. So clearing cache helps with the overall speed of the processor and RAM. Usually, when the system finds a cache file it reads it and displays the content accordingly.
But reading them sometimes takes too much time and your app becomes freeze for some time. So the best option is to clear the cache and allow new instances of cache to create. To delete the cache go to Settings~>Apps & features. Find the app you use the most and click on the cache option. It will show you the amount of cache that it has generated. Click clear cache and you are ready to go.
Turning off Auto-Sync
Google tries to keep your data, settings, contacts, etc saved in its cloud. It is useful when you switch your phone and your settings and apps restore automatically from your Google account’s cloud. Usually, sync has the topmost priority in google services inside your phone.
So if you seeing data usage and still can’t find the application which is using it then it has to be Google Sync service. Due to the priority, it takes more processor speed and memory and completes its task. Every app settings are sync with your Google account so it is better to turn off sync for all your accounts.
Wipe cache partition
We did mention above about the cache and its effects. But wipe cache partition is totally different from the app cache. It contains every temporary file on your phone. Usually, the space it acquires is not visible to the user, but if you get into your bootloader you can delete them.
Use the volume up or down key + power button to get to the bootloader. Find wipe cache partition and delete them. After reboot, your phone will surely feel faster. For better performance, you should do it twice a month.
Performing Factory Reset
The factory reset option resets your phone to basic settings that were there when you operated it for the first time. So sometimes letting go of your app and wiping the file directory clean helps to regain the speed that the phone came with. Please note that all your downloaded files, settings and application data will go and the system will reset to its factory configuration. It is found in System~>Backup & Reset~>Factory Reset.
Installing Custom Rom
Unlocking the bootloader enables the option of installing Custom Rom. Stock ROM is what a phone generally comes with which has the support of the manufacturing company. Custom ROM is a copy of the Stock ROM image but with some tweaks and modifications. Usually in custom ROM, you will never find bloatware and you can uninstall anything you want. You can use many apps that can speed up your device. You can overclock the speed of your processor. There are many useful features of using a custom ROM. Usually, you have to search very hard for the custom ROM for an old phone because their ROM is hard to find.
